Army of Ink # 58

DIARIES shut

Talking helps – silence hurts.   Just as this ink refuses to be beaten by her story – she shall never ’not tell’.  Secret # 12  talks about the silence and shame around abuse.

In 2008 I published In My Room.  Sharing the most personal details of your life, your deepest truths with ‘the world’, isn’t something I’d recommend.   There’s been much fall out from such a public sharing of my story so I’d have to say … don’t ’tell’ at this level – but DO ‘tell’ …  in a safe place, while well supported, to someone you trust.   And DO write.  Write for the process.  To explore and understand better yourself and the world around you.  And when you write ( in your diary, your journal)  keep it close and safe and well guarded.  A wise young person once said to me - “It’s not the writing that matters anyway - it’s the story”.   So give worries of spelling and neatness and correctness the flick – just write and write and write ….

PS:  The Army of Ink characters that have emerged since writing the book have become a ’safer’ way to explore and process my stuff - share it publicly.   Feel free to print off any of the Army of Ink characters (or other  images on this site) to stick in your journal and help you process your own stuff  …
